How Can I Avoid Taking The Medicine?

i AM A HYPO THYROID PATIENT WITH HYPERTENSION FOR THE LAST 28 YEARS. IN 2009, OCTOBER I HAD A LVF AFTER WHICH I WAS PUT ONTO ZOLFRESH 10 MG EVERY NIGHT AS I CANNOT SLEEP. HOW DO I GET OFF THE DRUG NOW. I HAVE RECENTLY BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH OSA.

I have noted your symptoms and the current medications.

It is good to note that you want to come off zolfresh (zolpidem), as you are worried about its risks and side effects.

Zolpidem is a safer sleeping drug, as compared to benzodiazepines such as alprazolam and diazepam. Benzodiazepines have a higher risk of dependence and addiction.

Zolpidem dose can be gradually reduced. In your case, you can reduce by 2.5 mg every week and stop it altogether in 3-4 weeks.
