How Can High Fever And Appetite Loss In An Infant Be Treated?
My one year old grandson has had these symptoms since Monday; Fowl smelling gas, high grade fever ranging from 101.7 to 103. The fever always gets higher at night. He is drinking fluids but he won t take his formula. Loss of appetite, irritability, night walking, he doesn t won t tone held or touched when his fever is high. We took him to pediatrician and she said it was viral and let it run its course. Gave him Q- Dryl for vomiting. He hasn t vomited since Thursday. What should I do?
As per your query, your child has symptoms of high fever and appetite loss which is due to viral infection, poor immunity of the body and increased the susceptibility of getting infected. Need not to worry. I would suggest you avoid the intake of cold liquids. You should give child steam inhalation on a daily basis as well. You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin and antihistamine Levocetirizine for 3-4 days. Do tepid sponging as well. Give child oral rehydrating solution as well. Visit pediatrician/ ENT specialist once if symptoms keep on persisting and get blood tests and throat swab done and start treatment after proper diagnosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
