I have been using Otomize prescribed by my doctor for three days now, i had no deafness before but my hearing in that ear has been affected quite a bit. i have also developed a loud whoosing sound which is keeping me awake. Should i stop using it and go back to my doctor
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Understanding your concern. As per your query, you have symptoms of tinnitus and hearing loss which could be due to age-related changes, very loud noise, Meniere's disease, and could be due to wax accumulation in ears.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid inserting anything sharp in the ear to get temporary relief. Maintain ear cleanliness. You should consult ENT specialist for proper examination. You should get it examined immediately to prevent further exaggeration of symptoms. The doctor may order CT scan, audiometry testing, examination with an otoscope and prescribe further treatment option. Till then meditation and light physical exercise will be helpful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
