How Can Headache Along With High Fever Be Treated?

Yes sir. . . .my 9 year old grandson never had a problem with breaking a fever. Beginning last night, he complained for a headache, then immediately afterwards came down with a fever of 102. . .We have been properly alternating between Tylenol and Motrin, and his fever still has not broke. This has never happened with any of my children or grandchildren, so I m very concerned. We also took him to the closest ER late last night. He was given Amoxacillin. Fever still hasn t broken. . . .Any advice would be greatly appreciated. . . . .Thank you all for what you do.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

At a fever above 101 children need cold sponging. And paracetamol may be repeated six hourly. Ask children to take plenty of fluids. Usually, the viral fever subsides after three or four days. Take paracetamol dose as 200 mg as a single dose which can be repeated six hourly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
