How Can Hand Foot And Mouth Disease Be Treated?

I got hand foot and mouth disease from my granddaughter. I had it very badly in my mouth, hands and feet so that I could hardly walk with the pain. Fourteen days later my spots on my hands are now peeling away and I no longer have pain but I still feel dizziness and do not have a totally clear head. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,my name is dr.Dorina Gurabardhi.I understand your concern.
Hand-foot-and-mouth disease should go away on its own after 7 to10 days. There is no treatment for the illness and no vaccine. You can ease your symptoms with:
- pain relievers like ibuprofen (Advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) or numbing mouth sprays.
- Cold treats like Popsicles, yogurt, or smoothies soothe a sore throat.
-Anti-itch lotion, like calamine, can help against rashes.
Hope my answer was helpful. If you have any other question Ill be glad to help.

Regards,
