How Can Green Nasal Discharge Be Treated?

I have been suffering from mild green catarrh for several weeks now following a cold. Sometimes it gets a bit better, sometimes worse but it is not going away. It is present a little in my nose but is mainly noticeable in my throat and it causes me discomfort and to cough sometimes. It is worse in the morning and improves during the day. I have tried several remedies but it doesn t seem to change much.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You may be suffering from polyp or sinusitis with secondary bacterial Infection. Use water vapour inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. Use tablet Ambroxol twice a day for five days. Use tablet Amoxiclav twice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
