How Can Gout Be Treated?

Dear Dr Mohan, I recently had gout attack and it was for 1st time. Medication is on but I believe they are treating the symptoms and not cause. What all test I should do before I visit you in the hospital. I am from pune and you have been highly recommended to me from my friend. So before visiting you I need to ensure all the reports you need to treat root cause are in place. Thanks & Regards Atul +91 0000

Ok, there are several methods for treating it. First, is not causing it. Blood, meat with blood, shellfish, are some of several foods that cause gout. Lowering those and increasing fluids would be a step in the right direction. Next there can be blocking the production of uric acid (allopurinol) OR increasing it going out. INDOMETHICIN is both a pain treatment and a drug that increases the excretion of uric acid (assuming one has kidneys).
