How Can Gastroparesis Be Treated?

hi I have been diagnosed with gastroparesis. Is it possible for the vagus nerve to have been damaged during a keyhole appendectomy? as my symptoms started after I had the surgery. I should note also that after my appendectomy I had an acute episode of urinary retention and opiate induced hypotension, I was wondering if any of this could have contributed to vagus nerve damage?

There is no chance that your vagus nerve could be damaged by keyhole surgery to remove appendix. Gastroparesis is a disease of the muscles of the stomach or the nerves controlling the muscles eventually causing the muscles to stop working. This condition can be adequately treated with nutritional support, drugs for treating nausea and vomiting. And also with drugs that stimulate the muscle to work. The other symptoms of urinary retention and opiate induced hypertension is not related to vagus nerve damage and could have been due to use of certain medications for anesthesia during the surgical procedure.

Kindly follow the treatment, as has been recommended by your doctor and do the necessary follow-up as advised.
