How Can Frequent Cough In A Child Be Treated?

Hi sir, my daughter is having frequent caugh in day and night. and got advised to use, Augmention syrup, asthalin syrup and Betnesol drops. t times per day. Could you suggest me if I can use them or need to consult another doctor as I do not see much improvement.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If she is an asthmatic, then the frequent cough is likely due to uncontrolled asthma and her inhalers need adjusting as soon as possible.
Her preventor /steroid inhaler would need increasing at least for a short period of time.

If she is not an asthmatic then the most common cause of continued cough is post nasal drip of mucus to the back of the throat.
Some persons are not aware of the drip itself and only have the cough.

It is treated with a combination of antihistamine/decongestant medication such as zyrtec d, allegra d, claritine d, benadryl d or a variation of one of these that is available at your pharmacy.

It can sometimes take 2 to 3 weeks for improvement though some persons improve before this time.
