Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Almost three weeks ago I went camping. I returned home with about 25 chiggar bites on my right foot. I was putting caladryl lotion on them to help with the itching. I was hoping try would be gone by now, but they aren t. Is this normal? Are there other things I can do to got rid of the bites? Should I see a doctor?
Chigger bites are uncomfortable, itchy, annoying, and often occur during camping and hiking. The bite marks are normal to be be there for a week or so but three weeks is quite long and I would not consider it normal. Putting ice or calamine lotion along with some anti allergic like levocetirizine is genrally helpful, but since it is already so long, you should definitely see a doctor and there is not anything more that I would suggest you to do as of now to relieve the bites.
