How Can Fever In A Toddler Be Treated?

Hi, my daughter had a 103 F fever that started at 101. I kept giving her Tylenol but 8 hours later, when the fever hit 103 F, I gave her 5 ml of Meftal P. My daughter is 3 years and 11 months old and weighs 15.5 kg. An hour and a half later, her fever went up to 104. I started sponging her and brought the fever down to 102.4 F. However, after an hour of sponging, she wanted to sleep and I stopped the sponging. What do i do if the fever goes up again? I have another 5 hours before I can give her another dose of Meftal-P. Is her sleep as important as sponging to keep her fever down? Please help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

yes, sleep is very important because she needs rest to fight off the infection. You cannot repeat the meftal for a little while but you can give her another dose of the tylenol if the temperature remains elevated.

Make sure that you are giving enough for her weight. If she is not getting the appropriate amount, then there would not be a response

I hope this helps
