How Can Fever And Chronic Cough Be Treated?

Hi, My daughter is 6yrs and 6months old. She was diagnosed with enteric fever last month and with medication / proper rest was getting better and back to action from last week. However, we notice that she has again started off with bad cough and find it little uncomfortable as it is back to back dry cough. Even in the night, we notice, her breathing is like a hiss with all the cold. Little worried as cough is one of the symptoms of typhoid. And this is one she started off the last time before she was diagnosed for enteric fever. Could anyone guide me on this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your daughter might have caught respiratory infection due to lowered immunity after enteric fever. She needs treatment for them. Your fear about recurrence of enteric fever needs to be excluded /noted by blood testing and careful treatment by her pediatrician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
