How Can Erythema Nodosum Be Treated?

Hello. Year s ago after many abdominal surgeries with 3 permanent colostomies and now an ileostomy I developed erythmia nodosum. I have chrohns disease. The last 3 days I have developed red spots with blister s in the middle. Some looks like they are going away while more develop. The spots are very tender, itch and in general I don t feel well. My esphogus has been burning as well. I take 3 Prilosec daily for gerd, and Amitryptaline 75 mg at night. Do I need to be on medicine for this or will this get worse? each day I get a few more. I may have 10 spots so far.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, this probably is erythema nodosum. It occurs with Crohn's disease.

Generally, no treatment is needed besides the treatment of the cause. However if ver painful you can use some painkiller like ibuprofen or paracetamol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
