How Can Elevated Liver Enzymes Be Treated?

My husband works for the state in the heavy transportation units. He has been to Iraq but not recently. However he is in training frequently in various states. He has all the symptoms listed for Menegitis. He is seeing a doctor but they keep drawing blood and says his liver enzymes are extremely high. What to do? What does this mean?
