How Can Ear Canal And Drum Swelling With Fever Be Treated?
Hi, My 8 year old boy has recently been swimming in the sea. The next day he woke and reported pain in his left jaw for which I gave him ibuprofen. Over the next few hours the pain got progressively worse and moved to his left ear. He also had a low fever. We took him to a local drop-in centre who said his ear canal and drum was slightly red and swollen. They said that he had to have a temp for 3 days, swollen glands and constant pain relief before antibiotics would be given. It id now the beginning of day 4. His temp is now on the high side of normal but he still reports some pain, blocked sensation and popping on burping. Shall I get him checked again by a gp or leave it? We are currently on holiday do not have access to our normal gp. Many Thanks
