How Can Diabetic Ulcer On The Bottom Of The Right Toe Be Treated?

I a insulin dependent diabetic for 26 years. I ve got a diabetic ulcer on the bottem of my right toe. I m going to see my doctor this coming week. I was reading on line about diabetic ulcers. I m unclear about this type of sore. Do I want to keep it covered all the time. As even when I m sleeping. Or do I want to leave it unbandaged when I m sleeping.

Hello, It is best to see a diabetic foot specialist doctor, as this needs a special attention. Early treatment is a must, apart from maintaining strict blood glucose control. Fasting should be closer to 100 mg, PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c%<7. You keep the ulcer covered, otherwise there can be more problem. It needs proper debridement and regular dressing plus antibiotics. Do not delay . Thanks
