How Can Deafness In The Right Ear Be Treated?

Hi, I am 46 yrs old and lost 100% of the hearing in my right ear 4 years ago ( due to a virus which causes cochlear damage) I went to my chiropractor to adjust my jaw today and he looked in my ear and said he could see a black spot on my ear drum. Its the weekend so no Dr s open. Any thoughts on what this could be? Karen

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Karen, Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per my clinical experience, the black dot on ear drum seems old blood clot of perforated ear drum most likely. I recommend to pour ciprofloxacin ear drops 3 times a day ( 2 drops ) and apply cotton in the ear, till you consult your doctor.

Thank you.
