Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Congestive Heart Failure And Low Ejection Fraction Be Treated?
I m 58, have congestive heart failure and a low EF (35). I exercise and eat right - stay away from sodium. My cardio nurse recently suggested that I talk to my cardiologist regarding Entresto - that it is working wonders in raising the EF. Note: 3 years ago, after my triple by-pass, my EF was 20-25. I have take Losarton - but it gave me a mild form of angioedema in my throat. I am now on Hydralazine. I assume the Entresto would take it s place. Do you have any opinions on Entresto that might sway my decision? I know, see me cardiologist - but she is a busy woman.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Entresto is a useful drug for heart failure. It's a new drug with the Sacubitril, preventing enzymatic degradation of ANP and BNP. You can discuss this alternative with your cardiologist.
Wishing you best of health.
Thanks.
