How Can Chronic Pancreatitis Be Treated?

I suffer from chronic pancreatitis. I am prescribed Vicodin to manage the pain. I have never abused this prescription (over 6 years now), but I am most fearful of all the talk about opioids abuse will cause the medication not to be available. Since the pancreatitis has been only acute 10-12 times resulting in hospitalization three times, what do you think the future holds?

Hello,
The fact that you have never abused the prescription is a very good thing and i appreciate this! I would suggest that if the underlying cause of chronic pancreatitis is treatable you should go for the definitive treatment. Pancreatic pain is well managed on opioids and you can take them in safe dosage.
I would be glad to answer any further queries. Wish you good health. Kindly rate the answer.
