How Can Chronic Insomnia Be Treated?

Hi, I have trouble sleeping and therefore I only sleep every other night. Can this be bad for you? I don t feel less focused or more disorented at the end of my wake period. The cycle goes something like 38 hours awake and then 10 hours sleep. If I try to sleep on one of my awake nights I just lay in bed for hours unable to fall asleep so instead I do school work or other things. When the night when I do sleep comes I then can fall alseep easier. I am a bit worried however that this may cause problems in the long run.
