Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had chronic diarrhea since December 21 2016, which started 2 days after I had back surgery to remove part of a bulging disc. My gastro doctor cannot pinpoint why. I have had two colonoscopies since this started and have been on a number of medications. It occurs every day, usually in the mornings and up to 10 times a morning.
Diarrhea is seen when there is an increase in the bowel movement. This is because of increased contraction of the intestines. Along with this, one may also see this with increased fluid content in the intestines.
Common causes of diarrhea include bacterial infection, medication, diet changes, and sometimes with gastric allergies.
Most people find drinking lots of water, using oral rehydration solution, and taking bland diet useful. A BRAT diet can be useful as well.
BRAT stands for bread, Rice, Applesauce, and toast. This can provide relief to the stomach and helps prevent diarrhea.
I hope this helps. In case the symptoms persist, getting a check up would be a good idea.
