How Can Chronic Cough Be Treated?

I had a severe cough over the weekend and now have what feels like a sore spot at the back of my throat leading down into my esophagus. I can mostly swallow ok. I only notice an issue when I m trying to swallow medications, vitamins, etc. Will this heal on its own over time? Is there something I should be doing to help it?

hi sir/mam,your cough might be due to infection in your throat i.e; pharyngitis or an upper respiratory tract infection.this also causes swallowing difficulty or pain for solids.you may need antibiotic course.let me tell you the steps of treatment that are recommended.
1)if you are not allergic to penicillin, tab.amoxicillin with clavulanic acid 625mg thrice daily for 5 days is recommended.
2)if any allergy,go for tab.azithromycin 500mg once daily for 3 days.
3)warm water gargles is helpful.
4)tab.paracetamol 650mg twice daily for 2 days.
5)avoid cool beverages,chilled weather exposure.
6)for cough,if productive, you can go for ambroxol and guaphenesien combination.if dry, codeine containing syrups can be used.
if the above measures won't work, you can go for a physician consultation.hope your symptoms get relieved with this empirical treatment.if you have any other health issues, kindly write to us.i'm happy to guide you.thank you.take care.bye.
