How Can Chronic Cough Along With Sore Throat Be Treated?

I went to my doctor this past Thursday with real bad cough, sore throat and feel terrible. She gave an Antibiotics cough syrup Promethazine W/ Codene and told to take Tylenol. Still have bad cough and the cough medicine does not stop the cough I keep myself and my husband awake all night coughing. Got checked for Flu it was negative and chest x-ray No pneumonia. What else to take for cough?

For cough you can have Dextromethorphan, Chlorpeniramine and hot water gargles should be done. That cough is due to bronchial wall irritation or throat infection.
