what can I do to help with constipation. My husband takes opioids. I have been making him drink more water. I have given him suppositories, and an enema. it has been coming out in marbles. He has more in there I just am not sure what else I can do for him?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chronic constipation which can occur due to many reasons and it is extremely important to find out the exact cause. Need not to worry. I would advise you to take diet rich in fibres and drink plenty of fluids. You should consult a physician or gastroenterologist and get examination done like complete blood count, stool examination, ultrasound scan of abdomen, colonoscopy & contrast studies. You should start treatment after complete examination. Doctor may prescribe you traditional drugs like lactulose, milk of magnesia and cremaffin or bisacodyl tablets. Drink one spoon of honey in warm water daily. This will be really helpful .
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
