How Can Chronic Constipation And Abdominal Cramps Be Treated?

I ve been constipated since childhood and had symptoms of IBF for many years but it seems to be getting worse. Before the symptoms would last 3-4 weeks and then go into remission for a year or two before returning. I ve had these symptoms almost every week now for the last four months: constipation (as always), abdominal cramps, bloating and gas, and at times, stomach upset that lasts several days. I ve had the same symptoms for the last two decades, but as I said, they are getting worse. I m under terrible stress from work and financial difficulties, which I know may exacerbate this condition. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

How you try to find out the cause of constipation. Sometimes due to less fluid intake it can occur. One thing you should start is lifestyle changes. Increase high fiber diet with plenty of liquids. Start laxatives at night and don't take any stress.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
