How Can Cholesterol Levels Be Brought Down?

my cholesterol jumped from 199 to 250 in 16 weeks. I ve recently adjusted my diet and walk on a treadclimber 5 days a wk. I don t want to start meds for this, I heard the side affects of these meds are bad. Do you have any natural remedies that might help? My doctor wants to check me in !2 weeks to see my levels again. Your cholesterol is slightly high which can be controlled by diet and other life style changes. Medicines are needed if diet and lifestyle changes are not effective in controlling serum cholesterol level. Now a days, safer medicines with fewer side effects are available. Do not refrain from rigidly from taking medicines.
Statins such as rosuvastatin and atorvastatin are the most effective medicine for treatment of high cholesterol level.
Advice
1.     Exercise – start workout in gym at least for half an hour for 4 – 5 days in a week regularly. Start with a balanced mix of cardio, weight training and flexibility exercises
2.     Avoid eating high energy foods such as cakes, chocolates, chips etc.
3.     Avoid alcohol and smoking
4.     Increase consumption of high fiber diet such as wheat bread, dry date, and vegetables
5.     Drink 3 – 4 liters of water daily
6.     Chew the food properly to make it easily digestible
7.     Avoid excess intake tea and coffee after meal
