How Can Cellulitis In The Lower Legs Be Treated?

I have had cellulitis in my lower leg after having knee replacement on the same leg. I had the surgery Oct 10th and was in the hospital on antibiotics until Oct 25. Then had 2 weeks of antibiotic at home. I still have it although much improved. No further antibiotics are recommended. I have swelling in the leg in the afternoon and evening. Would elastic stocking help.

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

Cellulitis which is inflammation of subcutaneous tissues and may develop in healthy into diabetic foot with redness or pain in legs. If there is no improvement on antibiotic therapy then you should do further tests.
You should do Doppler ultrasound of the leg or CT angiography to rule out some obstructive changes and then it can be treated properly by medications or by surgical and radiological procedures. Also, it may be some resistant bacteria some more potent antibiotics should be used.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
