Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has an artery that is 95% blocked but it would not take a stent as just above the 95% blockages the artery is twisted (per se). WE go back in a couple of weeks to talk about what should be done...is By pass surgery going to be the answer. He had a good heart attack 28 years ago at age of 42...had first stent 20 years ago and this is the first time in the 20 years he has had to have a procedure.
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
If there is a blockage of the stent then surgical bypass is the only possible option for long term survival and it should be done no matter of his general health and age since 95% blockage is severe issues and may result in sudden cardiac arrest at any time. He should be evaluated by anestehsiologist and cardiac surgeon and then the appropriate type of bypass surgery can be chosen. From my experience, patients benefit a lot from bypass surgery so he should not restrain form it. Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
