Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 26 year old son has many symptoms of bipolar disorder. His symptoms are subtle which has made family and friends questioned themselves for being judgmental regarding my sons behaviors. There is a family history of mental illness. In high school and college my son was treated for ADHD - I believe his meds may have intensified his depression. My son is a Vanderbilt graduate , is living in Texas and has gone through jobs, detached from friends and it is becoming more and more evident he needs help. He supports himself by working at surf shops and fast food chains and to his credit refuses financial assistance from us. Our family lives in MD. Any advice/ recommendations for obtaining an accurate diagnosis would be greatly appreciated. Also your thoughts on seeking medical care in MD or Texas?
