Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m experiencing some anxiety from relationship concerns.. As result, I am not sleeping well. I have been takng 1/2 Tylenol PM.. and it s fine until I get up in the middle of the night to urinate (about 4-5 hrs into my sleep)... then cannot go back to sleep and don t want to take more. I m 69 yr old.. in great shape.. no physical issues at all... Would like to try Melatonin and not use Tylenol at all.. I ve read Melotonin (10mg) taken with Magnesium is VERY effective. What can you tell me. Also a video from an expert (Dr on sleep disorders) recommends Melatonin 3 hrs prior to sleep time.... says it may or may not work...but.. nothing to lose as a natural product.. and no harm if does not help with sleep. Your thoughts and recommendations? My Dr recommended I try Melatonin.. at my last physical last week. Thank you. Dennis
You can safely use melatonin supplements for sleep. Also, accompanied by sleep hygiene, sleep in a well-ventilated room, don't take naps during the day, don't stay in the bedroom during the day, don't eat or drink after 7 pm etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
