My daughter had something bite her on her thumb. It has a scab in the middle with white circle around it and the rest of thumb is red and swollen. She said it is hot. She soaked it in Epson salt. It does have puss coming out . She though it was a splinter at first but it wasn t

Hi,

It's difficult to determine the insect that has bite your daughter only by the prescription given above. Considering the fact that she has her thumb red, swollen, hot and has puss, this means that it is infected and needs to be treated.

I suggest her to:
- Take anti-inflammatory drug, Ibuprofen three times a day, to reduce swelling and redness
- Antibiotic (amoxicillin) for one week
- Apply ice packs

However, if symptoms don't improve, and the swelling and edema get worse, she should consult a doctor for the right diagnosis.
