It appears as if my husband has been bitten by something on the inside bottom of his foot. Initially it started with some minor swelling, then the bottom off his foot became a little swollen and a red nodule appeared on the inside bottom of his great toe. This morning that bright red area has become much larger but we have absolutely mo idea why. We’ve treated it with an antibiotic cream and ice. What could be going on and what should we be doing
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I understand your concern. Some advice that I can give to you are:
- Apply an ice pack to a bite or sting for 15 to 20 minutes once an hour for the first 6 hours. - Elevate the area of the bite or sting to decrease swelling. - Try a nonprescription medicine for the relief of itching, redness, and swelling. - If you don't get better take prescribed corticosteroids or go to the emergency room.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
