How Can An Ear Injury During Pregnancy Be Treated?

My wife suffered from head injury by an accident on 8 Apr 2017. Bleeding from left ear. Ear is not clear , blood has been dried inside thr ear. During the accident I don t know that my wife is pregnant. CT Scan of brain has been advised by the doctor. What should I do?

Hi,

Though radiation is better to be avoided during pregnancy, I would suggest following in your case.
@ The prime thing needed is to admit her in the hospital for observation over a period of the next 48 hours.
@ Confirm the pregnancy first with ultrasound of the pelvis with or without beta HCG levels of blood.
@ If the test of pregnancy is negative, straightforward proceed for CT.
@ If the pregnancy test is positive, discuss the risks versus benefits of CT scan in the issue with your treating consultant neurosurgeon.
