How Can An Abscess On The Upper Lip Be Treated?

I have an abscess on my upper lip. I've had staff infection before and had to get it cut off of me. I went to an urgent care spot with insurance I payed 100.00 and they gave me a shot in each of my gluets and a prescription of antibiotics. The swelling has gon down some. Do I need to go to the ER and get it lanced ?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Your symptoms are indicative of Staphylococcus infection only leading to an abscess formation.it can be very much resolved with infection and if the swelling has gone down then you need not to worry as it is hopeful that the infection will subside without lancing..
So my suggestion is to continue taking antibiotics for 5 days and also apply antiseptic ointment over the ulcer..
In case if after 5 days also there is no improvement or if the swelling worsen then you can proceed towards getting Incision and Drainage done otherwise not..

Hope you get better soon..

Regards..
