How Can Abdominal Pain After Appendix Removal Be Treated?
I had emergency surgery to remove appendix 18 days ago ,laprscopically. The surgeon said i could return to work after 7 days, i dont know if abdominal pain and the fact i have not been able to return to a full days work yet are reason for concern. My job requires standing for 7 hrs, bending, twisting. Im still exhausted.
Laproscopic procedures are usually less painful and cause lesser morbidity than open surgeries. Lap appendix removal surgery also has less morbidity then open appendectomy.
If pain in abdomen is still there after 1 week, my opinion is to do abdominal USG again to see if any remnants of appendix is there in abdominal cavity or infective material of swollen appendix is spread over peritoneal cavity.
There are also chances of other pathologies missed during first work out of appendectomy. So, do USG (Ultrasonography) abdomen and consult surgeon.
Till then for pain, take tablet Dicyclomine drug 12 hourly and tablet Diclofenac + Serattiopeptidase 12 hourly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hiren Hirpara
