Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a sub arachnoid haemorrhage just over a year ago. Subsequently had a vp shunt placed for acquired hydrocephalus. I have made quite a lot of progress after having seen a neuropsychologist and neurophysiotherapist. I take an anti depressant which has helped my mood in conjunction with the other therapists. I am reluctant to wean myself off these. I should value your opinion
Antidepressants can be stopped if you do not experience any symptoms of depression for at least six months. If the depression relapses once, you stop antidepressants then they can be restarted at that point.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
