How Can A Painful Lump Around The Knee Be Treated?

I fell on my right knee, actually I hit just below my kneecap and to the inner side. Large bruising and very painful half dollar size lump that is hot. The first night it was extremely swollen and I kept ice on it. At the time it felt like bee stings. Could I have chipped my shin bone? Trying to just elevate and ice at times.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Painful swelling may be due to edema. Kindly do X-ray of right knee after orthopedic consultation to rule out any possibility of hairline fracture. You can take tab. Aceclofenac for pain. Continue ice application. Continue physiotherapy as advised by a physiotherapist. Don't give much pressure over it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale,
