I have a very painful bruise on my arm from an IV needle during an outpaient procedure. The bruise is from my wrist to my elbow. No swelling and the bruise appears to be healing. It is very painful during the night. How should treat the pain and is this common?

General Surgeon 's  Response
You are having inflammation of the vein in which the needle was placed. It is good that it is healing. You can apply Thrombofobe ointment three times a day over the involved vein. This will reduse the pain. Avoid any strenuous activity with the arm till complete resolution.
