Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 23 year old son was out washing his car in the shade and came in with what appears to be a Mild heat rash all over his back. Had him take a cool shower and took a benadryl. Is there anything else we should do besides have him drinking plenty of water?

Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Malik's Response
Hi,
For mild heat rash usually cooling the body is enough to resolve it. The rash should fade gradually. If the itchy or prickly sensation persists you may apply calamine lotion.
Also, he should avoid hot and humid conditions, and maintain optimal temperature conditions indoors using fans or air conditions.
Outside he should have loose-fitting breathable clothing that allows adequate air circulation. Medical treatment is not required unless the rashes or skin become infected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
