How Can A Fluid Pocket Post A Gallbladder Surgery Be Treated?
I had gallbladder surgery almost 4 weeks ago .i had a pretty bad pain in my right side and hurt worse when taking a deep breath . Dr ordered a hida scan to.make sure it wasn t bile leakage and it wasn t. He tho is it s just a fluid pocket maybe around a hematoma and it will just go away . Should I have it drained or just continue to wait ans if i wait how long so.i wait .....feeling veey concerned... Thanks for your time .
Since hepatobiliary iminodiacetic acid (HIDA) scan after gallbladder removal is showing no leakage. One thing is sure that this may just be a collection. Regular follow-up with ultrasonography or CT scan, aspiration of the fluid for diagnostic as well as therapeutic purpose if it is easily amenable under ultrasound guidance. If the blood counts are raised to indicate an infection or have other systemic manifestations like fever, chills, and malaise, it would then be wise to for exploration, removal of fluids and set in a proper drainage tube. Appropriate antibiotics can help well. Take the diet as advised by your doctor or nutritionist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regard, Dr. T Chandrakant
