How Can A Bleeding Cut On The Finger Be Managed?

I have a small cut - less that 3/8 inch wide on my finger. Normally I would pull edges together and bandage, but the flap of skin was cut away leaving a crater , so pulling edges together won t work. I can stop bleeding with gauze and pressure, but after needing to change bandage after a day, the wound still bleeds freely. How do I bandage it?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I have gone through your complaints and would recommend you to consult a doctor and go for stitches in the area.
If that is no possible go for application of topical antibiotic followed by bandage of the area.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
