How Can A Bipolar Disorder Be Treated?

I think my boyfriend is bipolar because of how his mood goes from being super happy, to aggressive and blaming everything on me, then depressed about the terrible things he's said to me, how he's not good enough, how everything bad happens to him and believes life is nothing but torture and believes he should kill himself, then he becomes suddenly really happy again. Its been going on for about 2 or 3 years and I've once suggested he should go see the counselor, but he's very private and doesn't believe anyone could help him.

Hello,

I can understand how difficult is to deal with person with bipolar disorder.
Treatment of that is sure for there.
Mood stabilizer medicnes like lithium, lamotrigine or valproate can help for sure.

From your narration I think he has more mixed episode of bipolar than mania,as his mood frequently change from high to low.

He has to consult psychiatrist for treatment. If by chance he is suicidal or so aggressive that he can harm himself or someone ,he can be forcefully treated according to laws of respective country.

You can discuss with him about his problem and treatment and also with his parents.

Hope he will agree to treatment and get well soon.

Regards & all the best. Dr. C. K. Solanki.
