Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with IBS-D and have been reading the proper foods best for that condition however, I noticed that many of the foods they recommend are higher carb foods which is not good for a diabetic which I am unhappy to say I am. Which type of foods are good for diabetes and ISB-D?
As remedies you should: Look at your diet. If it contains a large number of carbohydrates that are difficult to digest, try to replace them. Carbohydrates that are easier to digests, such as potatoes, rice, and bananas, are good substitutes. Also, try to eat around five to six small meals a day instead of three larger ones to help your digestive process.
Chew properly to avoid doing anything that may increase the amount of air that you swallow. It includes making sure that you are chewing your food properly, and avoiding chewing gum or smoking. Also, drink some peppermint tea, chamomile tea, and ginger. In severe cases, a colonoscopy should be done, and some medications recommended.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
