How Can CEA Levels Be Reduced To Treat Colorectal Cancer?

Back in October of 2015, my Dad was diagnosed with Stage IV Colorectal Cancer and liver metastatic. His original chemo regimine worked great for the first 6 months and brought his CEA from 30 to 2.++ after operation. However, it stopped working abruptly and his CEA rose up to 200. Now the cancer cell spread to borne and lungs. How can i do for this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Extremely sorry to hear of his disease. In fact when colorectal cancer spreads this much, ota very difficult to get it cures. Chemotherapy is used but always with limited success.

In such patients, we generally recommend palliative care as a cure is most of the times not possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
