I have a j-pouch which has been not functioning. After scope procedure was performed, i have been scheduled to have surgery to remove a 10 cm sesille anal polyp. How will the surgery be done? My surgeon will be taking iopsies and removing some ulcerated areas
Anal polyp located somewhere in the anal canal. Anal canal is the distal part of the gastrointestinal system which is 4 cm in length. Continued as rectum above and opens to the exterior through anus. The anal polyps are removed by local excision. Trans anal excision is the procedure in which the polyps are removed by passing through the anus. Polyps may cut using instruments passed through the anal canal or using a loop wire by applying current which prevents bleeding from the site.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
