History Of Being Accidentally Pricked By Needle In A Train Followed By Red Dot. Have Pain In Thighs. Possible HIV Infection?
Hi doctor.. I was in a train and by mistake I was pricked by a safety pin kept on the table. I didnt see any blood coming out from my finger, but a red dot was tgere where the pin pricked. I am freaking out that what if a hiv positive person was pricked by the same pin a minute ago. Doctor please help. I also had pain in my thighs for few days and I read muscle pain is an early symptom of hiv.
Hi, It is most unlikely that you will have contracted HIV from this incident. However, to reassure you, I suggest you go to the ED to get a blood test. This is the only way to be absolutely certain that you are not HIV positive. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger, MBChB FRCA
