High Chest Tightness, Increased Heart Rate And Burning In The Chest. Taking Atenolol. Any Help?

I have been taking atenolol 50 mg , 1x a day for 5 years. Haven't taken it for the last week (ran out on vacation) and am going to pick up refill. Can I jump back in with my full dose or should I take a half to start back into it?
Am having tight chest, high heart rate, and chest burning I think due to lack of not having it the last week.

Dear Mr. Cook
Thanks for writing to us.
1. You must not have left atenolol like this. These drugs (beta blockers) if suddenly withdrawn, may precipitate acute angina. Since you have high heart rate, tight chest and chest burning, they all may be indicators of angina. Please see your doctor on priority.
2. You can go to full dose straight away.
I am afraid that things are not that easy always and you must see your doctor to rule out a serious heart trouble..

General & Family Physician Dr. Michelle Gibson James's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the symptoms that you are experiencing are definitely related to the lack of the atenolol.
Atenolol is a beta blocker and can decrease heart rate and blood pressure. It is used in hypertension and persons with other types of heart disease such as angina.

You should restart as soon as possible and can restart at your normal dose.

If the symptoms continue then you may want to visit your doctor for an evaluation.

I hope this helps
