Hi, My Daughter Is A Graduate Student, 28 Years Old,

Hi, my daughter is a graduate student, 28 years old, and has been suffering from cold/flu-like symptoms since mid-August. It began with severe headache, fever, vomiting, extreme dizziness and ringing in her ears. She went to Urgent Care and they gave her Amoxicillin for 10 days. She continued to feel poorly. Two weeks ago, she went to an Ear-Nose-Throat Specialist because she could not hear out of one ear and the ringing in her ears was worsening. Doctor put her on Flonase and an anti-viral medication for 14 days. She began feeling better in a few days, her ears began clearing and the ringing subsided substantially. She finished the anti-viral meds on Tuesday and today the fever, headache, fatigue and ringing in her ears returned. She seemed to be responding favorably to the anti-viral meds, but why would the symptoms return if her illness was viral in nature?
