Are Deplin And B12 Shots Useful For Depression Disorder?

Hi. My physician s assistant has recommended that I take Deplin. I have major depressive disorder. She ordered a genetic test that said that I have trouble utilizing folic acid. If I take the Deplin will it benefit me to take B12 shots and if so how often?

Hello,

In my opinion, you need to take both simultaneously as intake of vitamin B12 can cause more problems if both are deficient. The dosing depends on the current level so your doctor, who has access to your records can only recommend the dose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashok Kumar, Psychiatrist
