Hi,
Noted the history about a 41 year old female having sever contraction pain in upper abdomen akin to
gallbladder problems but
cholecystectomy has already been done.
The causes of severe upper
abdominal pain can be as follows:
Volvulus of stomach or intestine.
Stone in bile ducts.
Impending rupture of any ulcer.
Pancreatitis.
Liver abscess.
Hence you should go to ER asap.
Do not take anything orally.
Clinical evaluation by a Surgeon will help to know the clinical diagnosis to be supported by relevant investigations as follows:
X-ray of abdomen in standing position.
CT scan of abdomen.
If allowed then upper GI Endoscopy if indicated. Tests of stool, blood and urine.
All these will give a proper diagnosis and a plan of management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
